At this point, all components have been sourced, and assembly is in good progress.

With the encouraging news of the vaccines, many backers are wondering if UVMask will still be useful. So our team has decided to put together a little summary. In short, masks are here to stay and as one of the very first UVMask backers, you will still be able to benefit from your decision for months and years to come.

“Preventing severe disease is easiest, preventing mild disease is harder, and preventing all infections is the hardest,” said Deepta Bhattacharya, an immunologist at the University of Arizona. “If it’s 95 percent effective at preventing symptomatic disease, it’s going to be something less than that in preventing all infections, for sure.”

Current vaccines have only been tested for preventing Covid symptoms, not infection. This means those who are vaccinated could still carry the virus. If vaccinated people are silent spreaders of the virus, they may keep it circulating in their communities, putting unvaccinated people at risk.
Since there have only been two months of clinical trial data, long term side effects and effectiveness of the vaccines are still unknown.
Both the CDC and FDA have advised children under 16, pregnant women, and people with allergies to avoid vaccination.
The effectiveness of the vaccine on possible virus mutation/new strains is yet unknown.
At the current production rate, herd immunity developed in the larger population will likely not happen before the end of 2021.
So, in conclusion, UVMask and UVMask Lite will be useful for a while, not only for this pandemic but also for many years to come.

In regards to assembly effort, the final mass production will be carried out on production lines which will provide high precision and efficiency. We have a strict quality assurance process and standards in place to ensure every mask shipped is fully tested.
🔬New Official SGS UVMaskOzone-Safety Test Certificate
We see user safety as our highest priority. There's no other mask project that has done this many safety and efficacy tests. Some of our tests are also an industry first, such as our previous SGS H1N1 test report eliminating 96% viruses in a mere 0.08 seconds!
This recent SGS Lab test further confirms that your UVMask is 100% ozone-safe, amongst many other safety results. (P stands for 'Pass') So safe that based on industry safety standards, the ozone test is exempted because the effective irradiance from wavelengths less than 250 nm in UVMask is no more than 1% of that generated in the 250- 400 nm bands! 🥳
What does this mean?
To put it in simpler terms, UVMask generates a very pure and narrow range of UV-C. According to the SGS lab test is incapable of generating ozone.

Now that we are moving from pre-production to mass production, we are working closely with our shipping partners on logistic requirements.
With the new and tightened air-shipping regulations, we are now required to obtain the following new certifications:
We are working closely with our official testing and certification partners, such as SGS. With the upcoming holidays, the above tests will likely add 30-45 calendardays to the overalltimeline.
You have promised us Nov shipping, then why the change?
This has indeed come to us as a surprise, as our original timeline was built based on the assumption that our battery supplier's existing certifications would be sufficient (which have all been completed beforehand). It turns out that each new product needs to acquire brand new tests and certifications based on the new and stricter air shipping regulations.
Our team would like to sincerely apologize for the delay and we want to ensure you that we are doing everything we can to keep the process transparent and the production/shipping as speedy as possible.
So where we currentlystand?
We expect the majority of shipments to commence in lateJan 2021
We work closely with a 3PL partner that provides a comprehensive and most optimized shipping solution, utilizing different couriers for different regions.
Tracking codes will be provided once shipped, so you will be able to track your packages and see where they are.
How confident are you with thenew shipping timeline?
As production is moving along as planned, our last hurdles are shipping and logistic requirements. We are very confident Jan timeline is achievable. This also allows us ample time to further test UVMask to ensure everyone receives a robust and effective product (yes Covid-19 test is being planned).

As the first company to effectively integrate UV-C technology into a mask, we are committed to advancing the technology and ensuring higher protection levels for you and your loved ones. And that is the reason we are constantly testing UVMask against various viruses.
UVMask was designed to be one of the most effective PPE on the market against ALL airborne pathogens, including Covid-19 and influenza. Our latest official SGS test report is about UVMask effectiveness in inactivating the H1N1 (A/H1N1pdm09 or "swine flu") virus, the virus that caused the 2009 swine flu pandemic. And the results are in...
🤩 UVMask inactivates 96% of H1N1 in just 0.08 seconds...
That's right! Recent SGS Labs validates the effectiveness of UM Systems' Sterile-Vortex in UVMask on inactivating H1N1 in just 0.08 seconds. That’s less than 1/12 of a second, faster than a blink of an eye! ⚡️
In cooperation with industry-leading SGS laboratory, the test was to validate the effectiveness of UV-C powered Sterile-Vortex™ on the inactivation of H1N1 influenza A virus (the same virus that caused the 2009 swine flu pandemic). H1N1 virus also shares many similarities with the Sars-Cov-2 virus that caused the current Covid-19 pandemic. So this test is also a good indication of how effective UVMask is against Covid-19.
The potent o-zone free UV-C technology within UVMask, on average, inactivates an impressive 96% (>1.5 logs) of H1N1 viruses in just 0.08 seconds, using roughly half the time air travels in the vortex. What does the outcome mean?
These initial findings suggest that UVMask is extremely effective against airborne viruses, even in roughly half the time air travels through the vortex, including Sars-Cov-2, the novel coronavirus that’s responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic, as the dosage to inactivate Sars-Cov-2 virus is similar to that of H1N1 influenza virus.
Viruses are spreading around the world and mutating faster than we can imagine, and while pharmacological laboratories work on the development of vaccines and medications, traditional methods are always falling a couple of steps behind. And before the medical community can figure out how to contain and/or eliminate it, the biotech community is actively working to develop early preventive measures — tech equipped PPEs and sanitization tools to combat the pandemics.
UM Systems' recent White Paper explores the new challenges in light of current healthcare situations around the world and integrates detailed explanations on the usage of the UV-C technology within UVMask. 🤔 Production/Timeline Updates?
For the past week, we have been receiving messages from our backers inquiring about the shipping updates.
We all know you are looking forward to receiving your UVMask. Taking the new norm's challenges into consideration, we are doing our best to stay on timeline and ship UVMasks to you as fast as we can.
We have updated our time table we shared with you in our last update. As always, you can find the latest schedule here: UVMask Production Timeline
Our original plan was to start shipping a small batch by the end of this month (for Beta-Testing) before we ship to the majority of backers in Nov. This has since been revised, here are some highlights:
Even though the current resurgence of Covid-19 cases globally hasn’t impacted our manufacturing facilities (we are operating fully without disruption), it did impact our global suppliers such as Japan and the UK.
Due to this, unfortunately, we are seeing about a 2-4 week delay 😭 on crucial components. But the good news is that now all component shipments have been secured and the delivery timeframe confirmed. We are not expecting any further delays moving forward.
We are shipping out the first batch of product samples for beta-test and journalist reviews in about two weeks (stay tuned for beta-test reviews). 🤞🚀
The majority of shipments are expected to commence in late November.
Shipments will be directly from our manufacturing facilities by air courier (at no extra charge), so no need to wait for lengthy sea freight.
We fully understand the urgency to have these masks in your hands, so you and your loved ones can be better protected. It has always been our top priority to deliver the best quality with the earliest possible shipments.

Regular disposable surgical masks attempt to protect you by filtering air through 3 layers. But due to their material and poor fit — the gaps around your nose, chin, and cheeks — much of the air you breathe is not filtered. UVMask forms an airtight seal around your mouth and nose thanks to its skin-friendly silicone inner mask. All air is passed through 2 high-efficiency layers of protection: high-efficiency air filters and world-first active UV-C realtime air sterilization module.

TwoFilters are Better Than One 🚀🧬
The first stage of protection of UVMask is a high-efficiency passive air filter. The advanced filtration system blocks 0.1-0.3 microns particles, including dust, smoke, pollen, smoke, pollutants, particles, and pathogens up to 100x smaller than a grain of flour!
The all-new filter design now offers TWO separate filters for air intake and air output so that you can now use different filters for air-in and air-out, allowing extra protection where you need it. For example, for better breathability, you can use an FFP2/N95 filter, while using an FFP3/N99 filter for exhaling, so that your loved ones and people surrounding you are better protected. Each filter is individually replaceable and sealed by a more secure airtight screw-on filter mount.

As we move into production, our engineering team has put a tremendous amount of effort into making sure every single detail of the end product is near perfect. The final design has a much more robust, shock and water-resistant design, and even better heat dissipation.
A 20,000 RPM fan is now placed at the bottom of the mask, ensuring vertical ventilation and the most optimal breathability in all situations.
Ozone Safety Test 🧬🧑🎓
UVMask now uses 275nm wavelength UV-C LEDs (the safest yet most effective UV-C wavelength, which reliably generates a very pure and narrow range of UV-C that does not go shorter than 255nm. UV-C at this narrow pure range has been empirically tested to be incapable of generating ozone. Each UVMask is factory-tested for its UV-C wavelength purity to ensure its high safety standard.
We did an ozone safety comparison test between UVMask and a common UV disinfection device on the market. Both devices were placed in an airtight chamber during full operation, and the ozone level was measured using a high sensitivity ozone detector over a longer period of time. UVMask test shows ozone Concentration is consistently zero, indicating that no ozone is produced by UVMask. 🔬🥳

Although during the Covid-19 pandemic, supply chain and logistics are extremely challenging, with our rich experience in manufacturing and supply chain management, we are still well on track with our late Oct shipping timeline. Shipping will start from around Oct 26th and will continue till Nov.
